The year 2000 called, and it's bringing back low-rise pants, mini skirts, and baby tees—straight into 2025! It's true, the Y2K fashion is making a comeback, invading TikTok feeds, and catching the eye of major retailers like Forever21 with their sizzling collaborations with icons like Baby Phat and Juicy Couture.
But wait, there's more! Over in Hamden, a vintage paradise awaits where the early 2000s thrive once again. Welcome to the world of Amber Jackson and James Lee, co-owners of Flight Vintage and Flight Girls. Starting nearly a decade ago, this dynamic duo set out to bring some cool vibes into a market that was seriously lacking.
"We saw a gap, and we filled it with swag from our old-school storage unit days to our thriving store," Jackson spills the beans.
As demand skyrocketed, 2017 saw the birth of Flight Girls, expanding into ‘80s, ‘90s, and mind-blowing **Y2K fashion for the ladies.
But what's got everyone hooked on the Y2K craze? It might be our love of nostalgia or maybe those retro TV shows and movies we can’t get enough of have something to do with it. Take a screen classic like Sex and the City that's turning heads and hats back to the 2000s, where Carrie Bradshaw was the pinnacle of style.
What's trending now? Graphic and oversized jeans, no doubt! Jackson reports the resurgence of JNCOs and Southpoles, with Forever21 and Urban Outfitters not missing the Y2K boat either.
While the era may be on everyone's radar now, Amber Jackson predicts it won't be long before we’re all spinning back to the ‘70s and ‘60s in a style revolution!
In their next big move, the couple has ditched their physical storefront and taken pop-up shops on the road—destination New Haven, NYC, Boston, and Las Vegas. Their new ride? A cargo van ready to chase the thrill of selling vintage treasures across the U.S., all in the name of fashion and happy customers.
Forget signing up for anything. Just bask in the glory of Y2K fashions back in action, one van ride at a time!
