Discover the Jaw-Dropping Upcycled Kimonos Making Waves from Maui to Japan!

You've NEVER seen fashion like this before! Picture this: students from the UH Maui College Fashion Tech program have taken their creativity to new heights with mind-blowing upcycled kimono designs that are turning heads worldwide!

The Fashion Tech Lab is getting a fab facelift, and it’s about time! Expect a fresh splash of paint, brand-new lecture tables, and oh-so-modern sewing machines. These aren't your grandma's sewing tools, trust us. Need an adventure in your life? Sign up for courses in Sewing Knits, Fashion Illustration, and even Crochet – no passport required!

But wait, it gets better! Our fabulous trio of students – Brielle Pacli-Donato, Meghan Reny, and Aliza Clarke – jetted off to Japan to showcase their upcycling skills, thanks to support from the iconic Yamaguchi Prefectural University. Talk about international flair! These fashion prodigies were inspired by the beautiful Hawaiian landscapes, with stunning creations like Reny's "Hōkū Moon and Her Waters" that depict the ethereal connection between the moon, land, and water. Can you feel the island vibes?

Then we have Aliza Clarke, who honors the majestic Haleakalā with her red striped kimono creation, a true testament to Mother Nature's power. She brings the sunrise to life in a bold yellow hue—so profound, it's basically poetic.

Oh, and don't forget Brielle Pacli-Donato, who channels Maui's essence with "Wai Ko," a fusion of peach, purple, and blue fabric, meticulously designed to capture the enchanting world of sugarcane. You’ve got to see it to believe it!

But this trip wasn’t just about dazzling kimonos. Our rock-star students immersed themselves in the rich culture of Japan, attending kimono tea ceremonies and indigo dyeing workshops – an experience of a lifetime!
