Experience the Fashion Revolution: Vancouver Indigenous Fashion Week is Your Must-See Cultural Feast!

Hold onto your hats, fashion enthusiasts! Vancouver Indigenous Fashion Week (VIFW) is not just an event—it's a cultural extravaganza that you won't want to miss!

Mark Your Calendars: From November 20-23, dive into an exclusive world at the Queen Elizabeth Theatre, Vancouver. Get all the details here.

Did you know? VIFW draws a predominantly Indigenous audience—a fact both thrilling and thought-provoking. Co-founder Inez Cook believes the world should join the celebration. She’s eager for everyone to embrace and celebrate this vibrant cultural tapestry.

Since its 2017 inception by the fabulous Joleen Mitton—who’s of Plains Cree heritage—VIFW has morphed into a premier Canadian fashion spectacle. Mitton was inspired while working with foster care youth who were starved of Indigenous representation. She introduced them to Indigenous fashion design and saw the transformational power it wielded.

Brace yourself for a colossal four-night production honoring over 30 designers and 40 artisans and vendors from Turtle Island (aka North America). Themes include the Red Dress Event spotlighting the issue of missing and murdered Indigenous women, and Indigenous Futures focusing on futurism and empowerment.

Craving high-fashion with a push for sustainability? Designers like Yolonda Skelton are introducing upcycled collections, ensuring the runway is just as eco-friendly as it is fashion-forward.

With the Wisdom Circle guiding the way, VIFW ensures a respectful and authentic presentation of Indigenous culture. It's your gateway to cross-cultural understanding through fashion.

Mitton’s vision isn't just local; she aims for VIFW to soar to new heights. Plans are in place for bigger venues and extended shows—all while empowering youth through mentorship and entrepreneurship programs.

Are you ready to be part of history and witness the union of innovation, tradition, and style? Check out the latest buzz and snag a seat to this unforgettable experience. Support Indigenous designers and culture—it's celebration, not appropriation!
