Get ready to dive into the glamorous world of fashion and philanthropy! You won't believe what went down at the YWCA Westmoreland County’s electrifying 19th Annual Girls in Pearls Fashion Show — the Birthday Edition! This epic event happened in October at Rizzo’s Malabar Inn and was nothing short of a spectacular celebration.
Picture this: delectable hors d'oeuvres, a mouthwatering buffet dinner, and to top it all off, a fabulous birthday cake to mark 65 years of the YWCA’s mission to empower women and obliterate racism. Plus, guests were treated to a fashionista’s dream runway show featuring stylish threads from the oh-so-chic YWCA Thrift Shop in Greensburg.
But wait, there’s more! In collaboration with the United Way of Southwestern Pennsylvania’s Women United, the event wasn't just about fashion. It was a platform to spotlight rising stars. This year’s dazzling recipient of the Rising Star Award was Mollie Repko, a powerhouse under 35 making waves in every field she touches.
Not only is Mollie a dedicated mother of three and a clinical instructor for nursing students at Saint Vincent College through Carlow University, but she’s also a horticultural whiz. As a co-owner of Hidden JEM Farm, she's knee-deep in planting, arranging, and selling homegrown flowers. And she's not just about blooms; she's all about community spirit!
Mollie’s generosity beams through her farm, where she welcomes Girl Scout troops and 4-H Clover Buds, teaching them the intricate wonders of ecosystems. And Hidden JEM Farm isn’t just any farm; it showers a splash of color back to the community by gifting flower bouquets to those spreading goodwill far and wide.
Intrigued? You should be! This fashion show wasn’t just another event, it was a lavish affair filled with heartwarming stories and inspiration!
