Hold onto your hats, fashionistas! The incredible Lexi Chang is taking the fashion world by storm! This Taiwanese-born creative genius, who carved her niche at Kwantlen Polytechnic University, has just unveiled her jaw-dropping new collection at none other than Vancouver Fashion Week (VFW)!
Starting her illustrious journey navigating the fashion galaxy under the wings of the famous designer Alex S. Yu during her first year, Lexi's journey is nothing short of a fairy tale! Backstage adventures and moonlit trade shows paved the way for Lexi’s grand entrance onto the global stage this October with her sizzling Spring/Summer 2025 lineup.
Reflecting on her meteoric rise, Lexi confessed, “I couldn’t believe it was happening. I was almost in denial, but also extremely proud of myself.” And really, who wouldn’t be? Her soul-stirring collection, a labor of love since 2024, shimmers with ambition as Lexi dreams of launching a full-blown fashion empire!
Fueling her artistic passion? Lexi’s roots run deep. Born in Taiwan and inspired by her father's textile adventures, she transformed from a childhood painter to a visionary in the fashion realm. Admittedly, the leap wasn’t easy. “I borrowed a sewing machine from school and locked myself in my bedroom for two weeks straight,” she revealed. Now that’s what we call dedication!
The adventure didn’t stop at KPU’s Wilson School of Design. Lexi’s transformative stint at Leeds Art University in England helped balance her dreamer spirit with practical savvy. Could there be a more perfect setup for a stunning blend of imagination and reality?
Her mentor, Heather Clark, couldn’t hide her excitement: “I was delighted to cheer her on and admire all of the work, time and effort that had gone into producing that collection,” she gushed. We bet Clark isn’t the only one eager to see where Lexi’s next daring steps will take her.
In case you didn’t know, KPU’s Bachelor of Design in Fashion and Technology is the longest-running program of its kind in Western Canada. Looks like it’s producing some bona fide stars!
